The building was built in the spirit of modern architecture with elements of expressionism of the forties of the twentieth century, and according to the project of the professors and architects Jovan Jovanovi\u0107 and \u017divko Piperski. Originally called &#8220;Warrior House &#8220;, this building, whose construction began in 1929 and was completed in 1931, was built with personal contributions from the Association of Reserve Officers and Soldiers of the Kingdom of Serbia between the two world wars.<\/p>\n<p>The building was built with a foundation in the shape of the Cyrillic letter P, on which the tower with a clock on the corner of Francuska and Bra\u0107a Jugovi\u0107 streets stands out. The collection includes several significant works created in the first half of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century, such as the works of Vlaho Bukovac, Ljubo Ivanovi\u0107, Sava \u0160umanovi\u0107, then Milo Milunovi\u0107, Ljubo Babi\u0107, Kosta Hakman, Jovan Bijeli\u0107.<\/p>\n<p>However, the largest part of the collection consists of works by Serbian and Yugoslav artists created in the second half of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century, starting with Petar Lubarda, Zora Petrovi\u0107, Milan Konjovi\u0107, Krsta Hegedu\u0161i\u0107, Marko \u010celebonovi\u0107, Nikola Martinoski, Mi\u0107a Popovi\u0107, Ljubica Cuca Soki\u0107, Sreten Stojanovi\u0107 and other greats of Yugoslav art.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the Gallery celebrates an important anniversary \u2013 70 years of
